Springtime PHOTO SHOOT With my “PinUp” Girl Kristen by Darais
Spring time is almost here… I saw my mom’s first flowers coming up through the snow this past week in Utah. It takes me back to when I was 5 years old. I was over at my Grandma’s house and it was her March Birthday. I was outside and noticed the first flowers of the year. Purple and Yellow Crocus Flowers… unfortunately for me they were in the neighbors yard. That didn’t stop me from picking a 5 year olds hand full to give to my sweet Grandma who had taught me every name of every flower in sight at her house. To her great surprise to her Birthday present I still remember her gratitude at the gesture but disappointment in my mischievous ways… I was over at the neighbors door knocking and asking for forgiveness before she could even get them into water. Awe my Grandma, always true to your beliefs and passion for what is right… thanks for teaching me so very much in this life. I don’t want you to go.
I had an idea for a spring time pin up photo shoot with miss USA Kristen Dalton. She would become my Crocus flower.
With so much memory wrapped up from childhood within the excitement to spring and the first flowers blanketed in the snow I put together some pages included within a picture of my grandma Norma at age 16 below. She along with purple and yellow crocus flowers would be my inspiration.
And who better than the sweet and beautiful blond Kristen to be my springtime pinup girl canvas.
In the beginning, sealed with a kiss, we started out classic with a red lip to match the red pok-a-dot sun suit. The winged out liquid liner is a must try for every women in her life time. Simply clean and fresh like the first flower of the year.
To take it to the next level I got creative with a purple lip color and added crocus pedals made form heavyweight gloss colored paper. The effect turned out pretty amazing.
I had one of my favorite assistants helping me out Stephani Lynn Osborn. Thanks so much sweet girl, I couldn’t have done it without your help.
It’s always a great pleasure to get to create an idea and bring it to life. Create photos from a memory that will last forever.
Happy 89th Birthday this month my Sweet Grandmother Norma. Your growing beauty in life, love, and kindness will forever be planted within me and my art.
